Jimmy Bunch had a problem with a report in which he wanted to generate a bill for each person in his fraternity, and he wanted credits in one column, and debits in another. We tried for quite a while to get a couple of subreports to work, but were unsuccessful, so Jenny said she will work on it at home, and see if we can have a solution by next meeting.
Charlie Birnie had a macro that ran a make table query followed by an open form, but had a problem when it tried to replace the table, because it was involved in a relationship. We suggested he change the make table query into a select query, and set the form to use the modified query as a source, rather than the table that was made by the make table query.
John Beams brought a problem where an integer was multiplied by a decimal value and the result had too many digits; the solution was to set the type for the target value to Fixed and specify the number of digits desired.
Bruce Carson brought a problem with a Master Database that had records for A, B, C, D, and E, and an Update Database that had data for A and B, which was the same as the master database, data for D which was to replace the data for D in the master database, and a record for F, which was to be added to the master database. Jenny showed how to do it with an Update query followed by an Append Query. Bruce said he thought he remembered a solution that only involved one query, and I suggested that if he did an Append Query taking records in the Master database that were not in the Update database, and appending them to the Update database, the update database would then have everything he wanted, and he could then delete the master database and rename Update to Master with a macro.
Jenny demonstrated a CD she bought (for about $60) which contains five years worth of articles for two Microsoft magazines related to Access Programming.
