Charlie Birnie needed to know how to determine which week of the year a certain date was. By using DatePart ("ww",[Date]) Access return the week of the year.
Ed Giehll had a complex Excel spreadsheet that we linked to Access, and then imported. When the import wizard imports from Excel into Access 97, it appears to determine the data type of the fields based on the contents of the first field, regardless of how the spreadsheet has defined the cell. If a column has numeric data in the first row, it creates the field as numeric, and then has a Type conversion failure for later fields that may contain alphabetic data. Conversions rarely work successfully the first time!
Ed Daniels was trying to develop an application for his business, so the group helped him get started on defining his first table, and creating a form based on the table. By using the Between…and…operator we showed him how he could easily created a query using criteria of a date range, and then use that query input to a report.
All interested users of Access are welcome to attend our meeting, the first Tuesday of each month. If you're having a particular problem with a database, copy the .mdb file to a diskette
