From the April 1999 issue of the I/O Port Newsletter

Since TCS now has a scanner, we spent the February meeting loading software onto the scanner and demonstrating some of its controls. Many of our members have Microtek scanners and since the software for scanning is basically the same, we were able, I hope, to clarify some of the procedures.

In March we will be discussing how to do Optical Character Recognition (OCR) which is a process used to scan in text and then be able to manipulate it in a word processing program. For those who have scanners and are not sure if you have this software, two of the products are Xerox Textbridge and Caere OmniPage.
