Ione was a devoted wife and homemaker. She spent her life caring and doing for other people. Ione had no thought for herself and always thought of others first. Among her last whispered words were "take care of Bruce."
Ione attended the Mingo Holiness Assembly of God Church in Owasso. Preceeding in death were her parents and one brother. She is survived by her loving husband Bruce, two brothers - Harold Guthrie of Chewey and Donvil Guthrie of Clear Fork, three sisters - Joyce Noble of Owasso, Jennie Mae Morris of Chewey, and Loylea Dundom of Collinsville, many nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
I wish I had had a chance to meet Loy and Bess Guthrie, because they must have been fantastic parents. Not only did they raise such a wonderful giving person as Ione, but Ione's sisters Joyce and Lea were equally wonderful giving ladies, and I don't think Bruce could have made it through the months of Ione's illness had it not been for Joyce and Lea sharing in the load, where each could draw on the strength of the other two.
It is often said that opposites attract, but in the case of Bruce and Ione that was not the case. I cannot think of a more caring and giving man than Bruce, and I cannot think of a more caring and giving woman than Ione. I consider myself lucky for having the opportunity to know both of them.
