Corel Office for Java Wins Its First Award

Corel Office for Java, the first suite of office applications ever written for the Java platform, has received its first award. The office suite, which includes Corel WordPerfect® for Java, Corel Quattro Pro for Java, Corel® Presentations for Java, InfoCentral for Java and CorelCHART for Java, received the award for Best IT Product or Service at COMTECH 97's SCOAP Annual Awards of Excellence. The award was presented at Lansdowne Park on Tuesday, May 6.

In his presentation, Mike Devaney, SCOAP's Awards Chairperson, said "Java and network computing represent an exciting new era for information technology and the workplace. It is our view that Corel's Office for Java best represents the current excellence benchmark for enterprise productivity in this environment."

The SCOAP Awards of Excellence are presented annually to organizations in the National Capital Region as a means of recognizing leadership, innovation and overall excellence. The awards are a means of identifying a standard by which other organizations can model themselves. SCOAP is dedicated to the use and management of information technology in Canada's emerging knowledge-based society. In this category, organizations compete using available technology and services. The Best IT Product or Service category recognizes excellence in the state-of-the-art development of technology products or services which have significant impact on organizations and the workplace.
