This past fall, I ordered some new programs and found that I had trouble using them on my NT 4 machine that was set up with NTFS partitions. For example, in one program, palettes that I tore off and repositioned wouldn't stay where placed from one session to the next. I had never had trouble in the past.
I began searching news groups and CompuServe forums as well as speaking to companies and found out that I was not alone. Other people were having problems with other recent software. I found, though, that these software programs would run under Win 98 beautifully. However, Win 98 does not support open GL with my Matrox card whereas NT 4 does.
The question is: Do we now need multiple computers or operating systems just to use the software produced? If this is the case, then using different programs together presents a serious problem.
