X10 "Pop-Under" ads

From the February 2001 issue of the I/O Port Newsletter

I have had it with those X10 "Pop-Under" ads that keep appearing and are there when you close your browser.

I sent an e-mail to X-10 and told them I'd NEVER buy an x-10 product and stop sending me those ads.

They sent me this link http://www.x10.com/x10ads.htm to their site and read the instructions to get rid of their ads.

That page says that if you Click Here! it will prevent your computer from having the X10 "pop-under" ads appear for the next 30 days! You must make sure you have your cookies enabled, for this link will give your computer a cookie that will disallow X10 pop-under ads from appearing on your computer as you "surf" the Internet. If you clear or delete your cookies, then it will be possible for X10's pop-under ads to appear on your machine.

[Editors note: I don't know whether this works or not. I tried it, and then went to a web site which usually generates X10 ads, and I got an X10 ad, but I don't recall seeing them since then.]
