General Meeting Report

From the December 1997 issue of the I/O Port Newsletter

October 28 brought us a very interesting presentation from Digital Impact. They have not only come out with a new line of children's educational software Money101, but we heard a very interesting discussion of the problems software publishers have getting shelf space at the local computer stores, particularly the big chain stores, and we heard of many special projects Digital Impact developed for a wide range of clients ranging from CDs with photos of Desert Storm, Bosnia, and Somolia for the Department of Defense, to a CD with power point slides from all presenters at a big seminar on the Year2000 problem. Incidently, people in the problem businesses face at midnight, December 31, 1999, might want to check out http://www.tcs.org/year2000.htm. It is a series of links that I put together for additional information on a program I will be presenting later this month to the Tulsa Engineering Foundation.

November 25 we will have a presentation on the latest news about Intel from our good friend Stuart Turley. Please make a point to come to this general meeting.

I need to know what programs people want us to have at future General Meetings. I was very embarrassed by the low turnout we had at the last two general meetings. It is very difficult to persuade vendors to come if we can't give them a full house. If you are not coming because you don't like the programs we are having, let me know what sort of programs you want.
