TCS - Year End

Year End

From the January 2001 issue of the I/O Port Newsletter

We are nearing the end of the year. There was supposed to be a Daytimers and Learning the Internet meeting on December 13, but the Library was closed because of the snow, so we had to cancel it. It was announced at the November meeting that the Windows Clinic meeting for Dec 18 was cancelled because the presenter had a conflict on that night, so the Midi Music meeting on Dec 19 will be the last meeting of the year (assuming the weather is ok for it to be held).

As I understand it, Access meetings switch from the first Tuesday to the second Tuesday, and Dolly's beginner meeting switches to the first Thursday, so it would appear that the first meeting of 2001 is Dolly's Beginner Meeting on January 4.

Meeting turnout has dropped significantly this past year, probably due to the fact that we discontinued printing the I/O Port and are doing it only on the web. I would love to resume printing the paper, but as I indicated when we discontinued, I absolutely must have some person to either take over advertising himself, or agree to lead a team of people to solicit and handle advertising. I am willing to do a lot of the writing, although I do expect contributions from members, and I am willing to do the layout and pasteup, but I just cannot handle the solicitation, bookkeeping, and collections aspects of doing the advertising. If anyone is willing to help in this area, contact djs@ionet.net.

If anyone has any other ideas as to how we might turn this club around, and begin growing again, rather than shrinking, and begin seeing more and more people at meetings, rather than fewer and fewer, please contact me.

Several of our meetings have such a small turnout that we have been very close to shutting some of them down. I cannot go to the trouble to bring all of the equipment out and set it up for just a few people. If that is all we are going to have, we would be better off meeting at my home.

If you are not coming because the programs are not what you are interested in, tell me what you are interested to see. My crystal ball is broken, and I can't read minds, so unless you tell me what you want, I won't know what it is.
