When you download and install Firefox you get one set of Live Bookmarks: Latest Headlines and if you click on it you get a dropdown box with the latest headlines. I went down the list to Christmas hope in Bethlehem and clicked on it, and got a story from BBC News Bethlehem marks hopeful Christmas (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4124713.stm).

Live Bookmarks would be interesting if Latest Headlines was all there was, but Firefox gives you the ability to configure your system to pull other RSS feeds. Lee started me off with several

Notice that as I move my mouse down the dropdown box, different headlines flyout to the side.

I did some searching on my own, and came up with one for Tulsa News http://rss.topix.net/rss/city/tulsa-ok.xml. You can get a news feed for any city you want, from http://rss.topix.net/city/list. If you want state news, select that link and then click on the state name. For Oklahoma, for example, the link is http://rss.topix.net/state/ok and the XML link is http://rss.topix.net/rss/state/ok.xml.
Topix also offers a Headline Box for your website. I have one now on the HelpingTulsa website, and may put one on the TCS website as well.

From NewsIsFree I came up with a list of Conservative RSS Feeds:

These feeds are:
| College Conservative | http://www.collegeconservative.com/feed.rss |
| Conservative Democrats | http://www.conservativedemocrats.org/cd.xml |
| Conservative Life | http://conservativelife.com/blog/xmlsrv/rss2.php?blog=1 |

If you want to setup your copy of Firefox with the Tulsa Feed click on Bookmarks, then Manage Bookmarks

And you will get the Bookmark Manager

Click on File then New Live Bookmark

And it will create a new live bookmark with the initial name of New Live Bookmark

We don't want it called New Live Bookmark, we want it called Tulsa, but since New Live Bookmark is highlighted we can just type Tulsa. In the box Fixed Location we paste in http://rss.topix.net/rss/city/tulsa-ok.xml and click OK.

That creates a Live Bookmark on the Bookmark folder

While still in the Bookmark Manager we can drag the newly created Tulsa Live Bookmark to the Bookmarks Toolbar Folder and it will appear on that Toolbar, where I showed it at the beginning of this article.

If you want to create a folder of RSS feeds, like my Lee folder or my Conservative folder, you can click the New Folder icon, creatin a folder called New Folder, name it whatever you want, and drag it to the Bookmarks Toolbar Folder, and then, one at a time, create a New Live Bookmark, name it whatever you want, and paste in the appropriate URL in the Fixed Location, and then drag it to your new folder on the Bookmarks Toolbar Folder.
For more information on Live Bookmarks see http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/live-bookmarks.html and for some RSS feeds about Mozilla see http://www.mozilla.org/my-mozilla.html.
For RSS feeds from various news sources see
You can even set up your own RSS feed for stories on your own website. See What is RSS? and Introduction to RSS and Making Headlines with RSS and RSS Tutorial. Then check out RSS Syndication and Aggregation which has a list of RSS Aggregators, and WebRef and the Future of RSS which has some good links for Further Reading.
