TCS - Midi Music and Multimedia SIG Report

Midi Music and Multimedia SIG Report

From the July 1998 issue of the I/O Port Newsletter

We had 5 people come out to the May meeting, where we once again had Norman James come out and show us Personal Composer, the inexpensive, yet very powerful, notation program. Norman's son wrote and developed Personal Composer, and Norman is the President of the company, so we are very fortunate to have him right here in Tulsa to show us this terrific product.

Personal Composer is like a word processor for music. You use the mouse to point and click your notes on the music staves; then insert, cut, copy and paste notational markings anywhere on the page with ease. You can enter notes using a computer keyboard, a music keyboard through MIDI, or the mouse. You can even import existing songs in standard MIDI format, and Personal Composer will put all of the tracks up on the staves, properly notated and ready for editing and printing.

Personal Composer runs under Windows 3.1 or higher, and comes in 3 levels, ranging in price from $69 to $199. For more information on Personal Composer, or to get a free demo of the program, call them at 918-742-3488, or see their web site at www.pcomposer.com.

We will not be meeting during the summer months, so our next meeting will not be until September 15 at 7:00 PM, at the Harmon Foundation, 2901 S. Harvard. Hope to see you all there.
