67 Optical Illusions & Visual Phenomena

Who better than the head of the Visual Function/Electrophysiology department at the University Medical Center Frieburg to explain optical illusions and visual phenomena. Professor Michael Bach realizes that the ordinary visitor to his site is not a 'vision scientist,' that this visitor 'might find the explanatory attempts too highbrow.' As he explains, "That is not on purpose, but vision research just is not trivial, like any science. So, if the explanation seems gibberish, simply enjoy the phenomenon.' The images are fascinating, especially when one understands 'these phenomena as bringing out particular good adaptations of our visual system to standard viewing situations.' Come enjoy your own adaptations. The illusions have explanations as to what you are seeing and why, some with movies and interactive sessions. Fascinating; your sense of perception will change after spending time with Dr. Bach! "Ah. . . Bach!"
