Audiograbber grabs digital audio from CDs. It copies the audio digitally - not through the soundcard - which enables you to make perfect copies of the originals. It can even perform a test to see that the copies really are perfect. Audiograbber can also automatically normalize the music, delete silence from the start and/or end of tracks, and send them to a variety of MP3 encoders for automatic creation of MP3s. Audiograbber can download and upload disc info from freedb, an Internet compact disc database. You can even record your vinyl LPs or cassette tapes with Audiograbber and make WAV files or MP3s of them.
Another great thing with this software is that it does not put a single file in your windows directories! No DLL's, OCX's, device drivers, or whatever else that messes up the computer. Not a single entry in the registry or win.ini. If you delete the Audiograbber directory it's all gone, that's it! The free version is available at no cost, and can copy only half the tracks without restarting the program. The registered version costs $20 and has no such restrictions.

This software will convert or record real-time stereo audio at CD quality directly to MP3 or WMA with Hiss removal. No more converting. Just plug an audio source into the sound card, record (with Noise Reduction) and have a ready-to-play MP3 or WMA when you're finished. The real-time Noise Reduction Block very nicely removes cassette tape hiss so that old cassettes can be cleaned up easily and brought closer to CD quality. The software will also clean WAV, MP3 or WMA files directly. Has Automatic Song detection to split tracks and Silence detector to eliminate silence. Also provides a "wide" stereo spatial effect which enhances the audio causing the listener to feel more like they are surrounded by the sound. Now has recording timer. Includes ID3 Tag editor. Unregistered software allows for 7 days trial use.
Build a heart-pounding house mix automatically or on your own, without those awkward fades, jumping volume, or worse, gaps of silence. Export your mix to personalized CD-Rs for parties, to give to friends, or just to enjoy yourself. You can have the perfect mix wherever you go, whatever the occasion.
ReadPlease shatters the myth that computers must sound robotic and monotonous. Just imagine having web pages and e-mail read aloud to you. If you are finding there is just too much on-screen reading with all of this technology, then you will love using ReadPlease.
AnalogX SayIt gives your computer a synthesized voice to rival that of Colossus (from the movie Colossus: The Forbin Project). Type in any word or phrase, set the sliders to the appropriate settings, and click the 'Render' button - out pops a nice little wave file. Or, if you are just playing around, use the 'Preview' button an hear what it sounds like. It's that simple. AnalogX SayIt outputs 16-bit wave files, and can handle phrases up to 500 characters, more than enough for your average computer speech needs.
Sentence Read-Back is a very simple application. It allows you to copy text from Microsoft Word, Works, or any other text editor and allows you to listen to the text spoken out. Because some people do not take information in as quick as others, this application also offers a speed control for controlling how fast the computer speaks the text back to you.
The May meeting will be another music jam session, since we had so much fun at the last one. Also, the last one was nearly rained out, so we're hoping to have nicer weather this time. Come join the fun at the Harmon Foundation, 2901 S. Harvard, on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM.
