TCS - Representative Council Meeting

Representative Council Meeting

of the
Tulsa Computer Society
Minutes for May 8, 1997
From the October 1997 issue of the I/O Port Newsletter

Don Singleton, President of the Tulsa Computer Society, called the meeting to order with representatives Bruce Carson, Docia McCloud, V.J. Niemeyer, Paul McCloud and Ruby McKee in attendance, plus member Don Greer.

Don called for a motion to elect a chairman for the Representative Council. Bruce moved that Don Singleton be elected, V. J. Niemeyer seconded and the motion passed.

Bruce nominated Docia McCloud as Recording Secretary for the Council, V. J. seconded and the motion passed.

Because of the absence of the Treasurer, President Don asked that we approve as an interim budget the same budget as last year's. There was discussion on some budget items that the council would like to work toward for the year. Bruce spoke of the need for a laptop computer to replace the luggable. He noted that the luggable was not designed to be hauled around so much and that it took a lot of maintenance to keep it running. Don Greer, Docia, and Paul voiced the same concerns. President Don said the ideal solution would be to have a place to hold the meetings so that we could leave the equipment in one place. He also spoke of his dream to have a place that would serve as a meeting place as well as a resource center with donated computers set up for hands-on learning. The President said our most immediate need is to find a place to house the computers the club is refurbishing, since we must now move from the space that has been loaned to us for that project. It was agreed that we would investigate the prospect of renting space with the possibility that dues might have to be raised to $25 to cover the expense. Docia moved that the President be authorized to rent a storage room for the computers to be moved from the present location until some other alternative could be found. Ruby seconded the motion. Motion passed. Ruby moved we adopt last year's budget until a new budget can be prepared. Bruce seconded and the motion passed.

With no other business being brought before the council, V. J. moved we adjourn and Paul seconded. The motion passed and we adjourned at 8:25 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Docia McCloud
Recording Secretary
