Internet Sig

From the November 1998 issue of the I/O Port Newsletter

September 28 we covered Running a Business on the Net, primarilly demonstrating a Shopping Cart system called Hazel, and how a webmaster could set up different ways of presenting products for sale to Web Page Viewers, and how they could click on them and indicate which products they wished to purchase, and how when they were finished shopping they could go to "Check Out" and how an invoice would be generated showing a total for all items in their "Shopping Cart", how they would declare a method of payment (credit card, telephone confirmation, etc), and how confirming emails would be sent to the purchaser, and the merchant.

October 17 Richard Hall will cover Windows 98 Communications, stopping Spam, and the new CompuServe software. Originally I was planning to cover Visual InterDev and ASP Pages on October 26, and on November 14 we were planning to take a look at Real Audio and Real Video, but learning Visual InterDev sufficiently to give a program on it has taken longer than I anticipated, so on October 26 we will take another look at Running a Web Server, and the November 14 meeting is cancelled because of the Microsoft eXtreme event (for more information on this event see the back page of this issue). We will cover Real Audio and Real Video at the November 30 meeting, and Visual InterDev and ASP pages at the December 19 meeting.

If you have other ideas for future programs, please send email to djs@ionet.net and let me know what you would like for us to cover.
