Our first meeting for this fall was on Tuesday, September 15, where we
discussed various MIDI music players, both freeware and shareware. We also
talked about various music utilities, such as MIDI arpeggiators and
harmonizers, and a music CD WAV recorder that allows you to record music
from a CD, then speed up or slow down the playback without changing the
pitch. We even had a quick discussion on MIDI Sequencers (recorders), and
printing out your music in Musical Notation.
Our October meeting will feature Mel Souter and others, as he has agreed to
bring out his new Yamaha electronic organ with MIDI hookups. We will all
learn a little about how it works, and we will turn it into another "jam
session", where anyone can bring their musical instrument and jam with us.
We've had a lot of fun doing this in the past, and look forward to having a
great time making music together.
At the November meeting we will take a look at CD-ROM Burners. We'll look
at CD-Recordable and CD-ReWritable discs. Just in time for Christmas, these
devices are very affordable and allow you to make great presents. Come on
out and join the fun at the Harmon Foundation, 2901 S. Harvard, on the
third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM.
