Word Processing/Desktop Publishing Sig

by Docia McCloud

From the November 1998 issue of the I/O Port Newsletter

We had a nice turnout for the September meeting for our session on scanning. We talked a lot about resolution and how, in most cases, less is better. Don brought a sheet-fed scanner and we showed how to set it up and use the software. It was small in size but did a great job. We looked at the OCR software that came with it and it did a pretty good job of converting a scanned image to editable text.

Web sites I mentioned at the scanning mtg include:

I think we will work on newsletters for our November meeting. This will give us a chance to work with templates and maybe design a newsletter for a family Christmas letter. In December we will get back to the word processing part of our sig and look at Word 97 and WordPerfect 8.

If you have any suggestions for future meetings or any questions concerning word processing or desktop publishing, please e-mail them to me and we will try to answer them at the next meeting. My e-mail address is mccloud@ionet.net.
