Notes for TCS meeting 9-25-07
It is getting hard to find a computer that does not have “Dual Core Processor” which is capable of 64 bit computing - and hardly any software except a version of Vista operating system is 64 bit. But it will be coming.
There are 5 Versions of Vista :
Home Basic: 32 bit OK for web surfing, word-processing. but without Media Center “Don’t confuse Media Center with Media Player” , automatic backup tools and without windows DVD Maker. Can be upgraded to Home Premium.
Home Premium: 32 bit , My computer has a rating 3.0 - needed for flip 3D & Aero on a scale of 1 to 5 (to rate a computer - Control Panel - Performance Information and Tools) with Media Center and automatic backup tools.
Business: - 32 bit, without Media Center.
Enterprise: - 32 bit, with Media Center .
all of above can be upgraded to 64 bit.
Ultimate: Almost all of the above extras and is 64 bit.
Vista improvements :
Parental controls
Better security, I had to deactivate Defender to install some programs.
Virtual PC, is a free download from Microsoft it Can run older version of Windows Inside Vista - I wonder if you could run LINUX?
CD & DVD burning, CD burning of files or a folder look for burn button on menu bar, very easy to use.
Calendar program, a good improvement over any I have tried to use.
Demonstrate:
