Internet Meeting

From the October 1998 issue of the I/O Port Newsletter
We had a small, but very intersted, group together for the August 31 Internet
meeting where we were to talk about Web Servers. We were pleased to see Murray
Thibodeaux from OnLine Site Services, a company that does CoLocation of Web
Servers, and John Gilchrist and his daughter (I am working on a web server for
John and it is co-located with OLSS). I had a very good presentation planned,
including showing how we could dial into an ISP, and use PC Anywhere to take
control of the remote computer at OLSS, and how it would appear as if we were
actually there. Unfortunately that required us to have a phone line, and it
seems that in the reorganization they have done in Keplinger Hall, the phone line
we were used to using had been removed from M1, and we were not aware of that
until the night we needed it. I had to do the presentation with a lot of
handwaving and showing a few files that I had on the luggable. I am trying to
contact TU to see what we can do in the future; hopefully we can get access to
the TU internet, which they have in room M1.
