Internet

From the October 1999 issue of the I/O Port Newsletter
Chatting on the Internet was the topic for the August 30 Internet Sig Meeting,
and most of the time was spent on Tulsa Computer Society's new Chat
capability in it's WebBoard (http://webboard.apcug.org:8080/~tcs). In order
to demonstrate it at the meeting I had to run a couple of IRC Chat Programs
(Pirch and mIRC) so that I could be in the Chat Room as if I were three
different people, although certainly when you use it you will use either the
Java script Browser Interface, or one IRC Chat Client. I told people that
wanted to experiment with the Chat Facility I would be in the #tcsinternet
chat room at 10:00 pm that evening (to give them enough time to get home,
fill out the online questionaire, get their password from their email, and
get logged on). Well when I came on at 9:50 Don Greer was already there, and
we had a good chat, and finally about 10:30 Holly McMurray joined us, and
we chatted for another half hour. I was pretty tired then, and had to leave
to go get some sleep.
September 18 we will cover Email with attachments, and September 27 we will
cover Search Engines. If you have any ideas about particular subjects you
would like to see covered at future meetings, please email djs@ionet.net.
