Resource Center

Many User Groups, some not much larger than the Tulsa Computer Society, have a Resource Center, where they can hold small to moderate sized SIG meetings, have a permanent space for special projects like our Refurbishing Computers Project, have computers that they can use to teach hands-on classes, have a library where members can check out books, magazines, video tapes, etc about various computer topics, and have a couple of machines with most software installed on them so that members can drop by and try out software to see if they want to buy it.

I would very much like for us to try to find someplace we can set up a Resource Center. It would save wear and tear on the projection equipment and computers used for meetings, since most of the time it could be left permanently set up in the resource center, and it would make a useful place for our members to get together for all sorts of projects.

But to have a resource center, we would either need to find a very generous benefactor, with space that they would donate to us, or we would need to find a way of raising a considerable sum of money, to be able to afford to rent space in an office complex or strip shopping center. Do any of you have any idea either of a benefactor we could approach to donate such space on a permanent basis, or a way we could raise the necessary funds to be able to afford to rent such space?
