RIME

From the December 1997 issue of the I/O Port Newsletter

RELAYNET International Message Exchange (tm), RIME, is now available via the Internet by utilizing the NNTP protocol, it was announced by Don Barba, Administrator of RIME, a worldwide network of private Bulletin Boards in existence since the 1980's, "RIME is looking forward to expanding its user base and extending the BBS community.", Barba said.

Both end-users and BBS SYSOPs, may get additional information from the RIME web site at: http\www\relaynet.org\, or email admin@relaynet.org.

This news gateway was first developed by Tulsa's own BBSWORLD. BBSWORLD offers RIME as well as ILink, Intelec, UN'inet, IGAnet, and FIDO via news reader, browser, or telnet. For additional information/access visit our site at www.bbsworld.com or send email to news@bbsworld.com

All of the RIME message areas will be available much as NewsGroups are through any web browsers news reader, or a stand-alone product such as AGENT. The difference being that they are restricted to RIME subscribers. Because of the diligent message monitoring by RIME Conference Hosts, quality content and decency standards can be assured just as is has been through the RIME network of BBSs for years.

A more personal and friendly atmosphere is maintained than in NewsGroups. Users are required to use their true names, (no alias') and are held responsible for their message content.

RIME is knows as "The Family Network". This is due to the ever concern for children and adults who wish to maintain a family conversational tone and language throughout all of its messages, while still fostering an atmosphere of mature discussions in those conferences that may embrace topics not usually visited by children.

RIME maintains further quality control by having groups of message areas available only to educational units. Thus addressing the concerns of both parents and educators by allowing open access to the entire Internet by students.
