Internet Sig

From the September 2001 issue of the I/O Port Newsletter

As indicated in Some Sigs Resume Meeting there will be two Internet Sig meetings in September:

September 8 we will cover Computer Security. Originally I had planned to make it Computer Security / Privacy, but I found so much information about each that I suspect we will not get to the Privacy links until September 24.

I indicated in the July issue I hated to have to shut the meetings down for the summer, but I was only having three or four people show up at most meetings, and the effort prepare a special program, drive to TU, haul all of the equipment in, set it up, and try to conduct a program with that dial up phone line in room M1, then when it was over tear it down, lug it back to the car, and drive home, was just too much for an audience of three or four (even with the help I got setting up and tearing down the equipment, and lugging it out to my car, which I do appreciate). It is much easier for me invite a few people over to my house, and show something on my 19" monitor, using my Cable Modem connection to the internet, so I am serious about the offer to have people come by my house, either one at a time, or two or three at once, and if we don't start getting reasonable turnouts at the meetings at TU, that will be all I will be able to do.
