Access Sig Report

by John Beams

From the September 1999 issue of the I/O Port Newsletter

Debbie had a question about how to identify "Time Since Last Order" for each customer in a data base. Richard et.al. built a query using the datediff function to solve this.

Don showed how to write an update query to update a date field in a table to current date, and then showed how a selective update query could apply only to selected records in a database. Don also demonstrated deletion of records with a delete query.

A label report was generated using the employee table in the Northwind Database. Richard mentioned that the avery lavels would print a different number of rows depending on whether it goes to an Inkjet or Laser Printer.

Sade wanted to know how to determine the count of people with the same last name. A query based on the Northwind Database was used to demonstrate.

Charlie wanted to find a way to return to a specific record after adding a record to a query, but no good answer was discovered.

John showed how to do a broadcast email using a database maillist and MS Word. Don showed a broadcast email solution done totally in Access which he had shown at an earlier meeting.

Seth wanted to update a master payroll rate without affecting past paycheck records. He was referred to the Product Price section of the Northwind Order Form and to study it to see how it worked.

Seth also wanted to copy and paste a record in a form/datasheet view, but no good answer was uncovered.
