Mike has always had a love for both music and computers. His whole life has been spent in finding ways to spend time with both. He was always in band and other music classes in High School, and took all the math and computer courses he could in college. He went into the computer programming field and has enjoyed developing programs for various companies over the years.
His first computer was a Commodore 64, because it had the ability to make great-sounding music. He then bought a synthesizer and found a device that would hook the two together, and recorded and played all kinds of music. To this he added a drum machine and another synthesizer and just had a ball. Over time, however, the Commodore line dried up, and in its place the PC took over. So, he traded in his old Commodore and went into the PC line.
He became interested in the Tulsa Computer Society a few years ago after picking up an I/O Port Newsletter and reading about the MIDI Music and Multimedia SIG. He attended one of their monthly meetings and found a new home. He has been active in their SIG ever since, and has given several presentations at their monthly meetings on a variety of subjects. He has also helped out in several of the Shareware Sellathons by bringing his own computer and demonstrating music programs for people walking by.
Mike has spent countless hours on local BBSs and the Internet, always looking for the latest in music software. He downloads programs and music files, then shares them with others at the SIG meetings, at work, and at home. He likes all styles of music, from Rock to Country, from Blues to Jazz, and from Pop to Classical. He is especially fond of 70's music, such as the likes of Lynard Skynard, Eric Clapton and the Steve Miller Band.
Mike is married to Rose, who runs a Day Care out of their home. He has 4 children, from ages 4 to 15, that keep him quite busy at home. He is currently employed at NORDAM as a Systems Analyst, and works with both PCs and mainframes. He is very active in his church and is currently the choir director as well as the children's song leader.
