Getting Started

Bruce Carson led the Getting Started with Communications and the Internet meeting on June 2, while I was at Comdex, and it appears he had a very good turnout for it. He and Paula led the Getting Started Question and Answers session on June 4, while I recovered from my Comdex trip and just sat in the audience. Thank you Bruce and Paula.

We want to emphasize that while everyone is welcome to come to the Getting Started programs, they are primarilly for beginners. We will make an attempt to answer all questions that are asked, but it has been pointed out that some of these answers may go over the beginner's heads, and they may feel intimidated and reluctant to ask questions of their own. If you see this happen, I would ask anyone in the audience to reask the question, with a specific request to give a very basic response, so that everyone who is there, regardless of their experience level, will benefit from the discussion. And let me assure the real beginners that just because you may not understand a question or its answer, this does not mean you should not be there, it just means you need to tell us what it is you don't understand, and give us an opportunity to explain that to you.

Upcoming programs in the Getting Started series are:
June 18Graphics
July 2Word Processing
July 16Hardware
August 6Spreadsheets and Databases
August 20Windows
Sept 1Communications and the Internet
Sept 3Graphics
