Critical Patch Available for Microsoft Java Virtual Machine
APCUG Advisor Ira Wilsker
informed us about a critical patch available for Microsoft Java Virtual Machine.
Microsoft has
released a patch that eliminates a security vulnerability in the Java
Virtual Machine (JVM) that could allow a malicious attacker to re-direct a
user's internet session to a destination of the attacker's choice or run
code that could capture user activity and gather sensitive, personal
information such as user names and passwords. Microsoft recommends customers
upgrade to Microsoft JVM build 3805 or later. This update, rated critical
severity by Microsoft, should be applied to all Microsoft Windows 95, 98,
Me, NT, 2000 and XP systems running Internet Explorer configured with a
proxy server.
