In the latest perverse trickery pulled off by someone taking pleasure in computer users' pain, a fake virus warning is circulating by e-mail asking people to delete an innocuous and uninfected executable Microsoft Windows file and then to pass the warning on to others. And this is followed by another email urging people to download a replacement program, and the replacement program is a virus.
The copy of SULFNBK.EXE that comes with Microsoft Windows is NOT but the replacement that some emails offer, SULFNBK.ZIP, IS a virus. If you happen to fall for this, and install the real virus, McAfee has instructions on how to restore the original file.
